Notts Biodiversity Action Group
We have some exciting news to share with you regarding our Annual Forum Event 2021. This year’s event will be held online on Wednesday 10th March. We have been working with our partners at NTU to plan an online event, featuring 4 fantastic talks and an afternoon of amazing workshops, that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home.
This year’s event theme is “Rewilding and Landscape Scale Approaches to Biodiversity”, and we are very lucky to have secured speakers on four topics to share their expertise:
A selection of workshops have also been planned for the afternoon, each highlighting an area of Nottinghamshire that has great biodiversity potential. Local specialists running each workshop will discuss opportunities that have been highlighted through the Biodiversity Opportunity Mapping process.

The Notts BAG exists to promote Action for Biodiversity across the county and locally is involved in activities like the Grizzeled Skipper Project and Himalayan Balsam control projects. They have now set up a new web site https://nottsbag.org.uk/ where you can find out abot projects, biodiversity action plans, species action plans relating to the county.
Just a reminder that the NWT Members Day and Annual General Meeting 2020 will be held online this year, on Saturday 21st Nov using ZOOM.

It will be split into two sections the formal business of the AGM + a series of video blogs, interviews and virtual tours to showcase the continuing extensive and varied work carried out by officers and volunteers across the county.
Anybody who is a member of Notts Wildlife Trust is eligible to vote at the AGM which will run from 10 am till 11.30 am, with the members day running from 12.30 to 1.30 pm. There is NO charge.

Our third annual pub quiz at the Poppy and Pint in Ladybay was the best ever. All the tables were taken (we could have filled more) and a good night was had by all. There were a few “stinkers” in the questions, which the quiz master claims are to separate the winning team from the rest, but others of us suspect it is just to see the confused looks on our faces ! All I will say is “Floating in the air” and Aled Jones. The winning team was only one point ahead and second place had to go to a tie break.
Besides a fun night, our object was to raise funds for NWT and this we also did making a total of £470. This is all “free” cash thanks to support from the Poppy & Pint in particular, but also Notts County FC, Notts County Cricket Club, West Bridgford ASDA, Clifton Morrisons + individual donations and of course the hard work of our quiz master Neil Glenn and all the South Notts LG “elves” who took money, sold raffle tickets and generally organized stuff etc etc.

Even if they don`t come to WATCH they can still participate in ‘30 days wild‘ in June. 30 Days Wild is all about doing a ‘random act of wildness’ each day during June to bring you closer to nature. Our 30 Days Wild web page has information about last year’s activity and a few blogs to inspire you to get involved. This will be updated as we go through the campaign. In addition to our regular programme, you will notice that we have a very special event in August during the school holidays. The Wilder Woodland Gathering at Skylarks Nature Reserve is a free family event starting at 1:00pm and going through till 7:00pm and there will lots of fun activities running right through. So put the date in your diaries now so as not to be disappointed on the day!
